Looking over 2018 and looking forward

January is the time to prepare the incoming year, and reviewing the past one.

During 2018 we were busy and enthusiastically welcoming in Lisbon architecture followers and experts, from many countries and the five continents. We did our best to meet the expectations of all who have joined us: professional groups, students, solo travelers, families, friends, lovers, and others.

The feedback was excellent. Each and every insight was special, and we have learned a lot. We also set-up new walks that are now available: public housing projects, and Cascais – contemporary architecture at the seaside.

It was intensive and gratifying, working with different partners, setting-up architectural events and tours. We have invited architects, landscape architects, engineers, archaeologists, historians, and other specialists to share their work and knowledge. Lisbon’s architecture was put into perspective by different approaches.

Our activity is driven by the enthusiasm of all who join us to discover Lisbon through architecture - the buildings, the urban space, the catchy constructions, and the ones of everyday’s life. We are always triggered by curiosity of knowing when, why, and by whom a site or structure was transformed or designed, in history and the present time.

In 2019 Lisboa Architecture Walks & Trips is preparing new routes in Lisbon, and expanding its trips to the south, the north and the interior of Portugal. New itineraries visiting remarkable projects built in Portuguese medium size cities, small towns and rural areas will be soon available.
